Our Research Commitment

Vision, Mission, and Values

  • Vision: A future where clinical research reflects the diversity of populations it seeks to serve, leading to equitable health outcomes.

  • Mission: To create and sustain community-centred research infrastructures that engage underrepresented populations, in clinical trials.

  • Core Values:

  • Equity: Making research accessible and inclusive.

  • Trust: Building long-term relationships with communities.

  • Excellence: Maintaining compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

  • Innovation: Using community-centred approaches to maximise reach.

  • Collaboration: Working with NIHR, GP practices, and community organisations.

Research Credentials and Track Record

  • NIHR Success: We supported NIHR NW RRDN to promote research uptake in the homecare sector across Greater Manchester, including recruiting homecare services onto a research engagement portal, GCP training care managers, hosting research fairs, and running awareness sessions.

  • Private Site Support: We have supported private research sites with activities like business strategy, study setup, SOP development, regulatory compliance, recruitment, and clinical visit delivery.

  • Community-Centred Trials: We have initiated  a model of community-centred clinical trials with four GP practices currently signed up. Thanks to our persistence, this number is set to grow as more practices recognise the value of our model.

  • GCP-Trained Workforce: Every staff member is GCP-certified. Three of our nurses have completed or are completing NIHR research career development awards.

Leadership: Our Director is a Clinical Research Physician with experience across NHS and private clinical trials in infectious diseases, respiratory medicine, dermatology, neurology, and general medicine. He has also served as an Associate PI under NIHR, demonstrating strong clinical leadership. He is also a Community Engagement and Involvement (CEI) specialist for an NIHR committee on Global Awards Fellowship. Within our leadership we also have 3 nurses with a combined experience of 12 years in clinical research at Manchester University Foundation Trusts (MFT) and private sites. Our nurses have also participated in NIHR internships for research career development.

Health and Social Care Research In the Community

  • 3. Develop Research Skills Among Carers in Homecare and Care Homes

We equip carers in home care and care homes with essential research skills, empowering them to support clinical trials and enhance patient participation. Through tailored training, they become key contributors to advancing medical research while improving patient care.

  • 4. Research Fairs

We organize Research Fairs in local communities, providing a platform for disseminating important research findings, sharing upcoming research opportunities, and fostering public awareness. These events connect patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, creating a collaborative environment for advancing medical knowledge and engagement

  • 5. Dementia Research Excellence

As an NIHR Enrich-accredited research-ready site, we are committed to advancing dementia research through high-quality, patient-centered studies. Our accreditation ensures that we meet the highest standards in supporting innovative research aimed at improving care and outcomes for individuals living with dementia.
